Over the years, Sarah has been involved in a variety of church ministries, from outreach among international students, to toddler groups, Bible studies and pastoral care. She is married to Lewis Allen who has been a pastor (first at Gunnersbury Baptist Church in London and now Hope Church in Huddersfield) and has served alongside him in this capacity for 25 years.

After studying for a Masters at Union School of Theology, Sarah became a Director of London Seminary's Flourish Course, training women for ministry. She has also written three books, one in partnership with Lewis, one for children and another, Clothed with Strength, a collection of biographies of notable evangelical women.

During her day-to-day life, Sarah combines teaching English in a sixth-form college with pastoral care in church and occasional writing/lecturing. She and her husband Lewis have five (nearly all adult) children.
