Over the years, Sarah has been involved in a variety of church ministries, from outreach among international students, to toddler groups, Bible studies and pastoral care. She is married to Lewis Allen, and has served alongside him in his role as pastor for 25 years (first at Gunnersbury Baptist Church in London and, most recently, at Hope Church in Huddersfield) .

After studying for a Masters at Union School of Theology, Sarah became a Director of London Seminary's Flourish Course, training women for ministry. She has also written three books, one in partnership with Lewis, one for children and another, Clothed with Strength, a collection of biographies of notable evangelical women.

During her day-to-day life, Sarah combines teaching English in a sixth-form college with pastoral care and occasional writing/lecturing. She and her husband Lewis have five (nearly all adult) children.
